These kicks require tremendous technique and skill, to apply an effective kick from such a short distance. Kyokushin in my opinion is one of the strongest styles. Also, I notice the difference in behavior with MMA matches, in which the winner jumps around, bragging and goading in a way that is not appropriate to martial Arts. EXCELLENT!
Kyokushin is actually a combination of Shotokan and Goju Ryu, as creator Masutatsu Oyama trained in both styles. Kyokushin's "Northern Kata" comes from Shotokan, and its "Southern Kata" is from Goju Ryu.
Kyokushin kai rules are no punching to the head but kicks are allowed. Different competitions have different rules, and this stance and that style of defence suits those rules. So please, think before you type.
Another reason why punches to face aren't allowed is that many countries don't allow bare knuckle strikes to the face. So you either not punch face and keep it bareknuckle as Mas Oyama intended., or put on gloves and move into kickboxing (a lot of karateka do that, K1 for example). Kyokushin and it's spinoffs have a saying (I practice Seido, there's Ashihara and Enshin too) 'train realistically, compete safely.' So karateka do know to defend/attack face, they just can't do it in kumite/comp
+Hồng Vân Khang Trương kyokushin karate was founded by Korean and he was learned taekwondo style martial art in Korea before he moved to Japan..original Karate mainly used hands..kara-te means empty hands....en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyokushin
Man M I didn't say Kyokushin alone, I say Karate in general. It is believed that TKD has more kicks than Karate, but that doesn't mean Karate's kicks aren't effective. The name Karate means emty hand, yes. But it is to emphasize that this martial arts is used without weapons. People use weapons by hands so you can't name Karate something like "empty leg", right? We can see this style of name in many martial arts, always have the word "fist" but the pupils use their legs more than their fists. So stop judging a martial arts by its name, it's pointless. I haven't seen any TKD martial artists tried to kick his rival's legs in a match. In the contrast, Karate fighters (Kyokushin, Shotokan, etc) usually kick their rivals' legs for many reasons, such as damaging or opening a dinamic attack. And that kind of kicking works as effective as those high kicks.
Hồng Vân Khang Trương don't get me wrong ..i m not judging any martial art in here.. every martial art have its own main technics..in case of karate..they r using hands more than legs.. anda..ofcourse there r many technics for lkicking egs in taekwondo.. but they don't give point for that in match..( u have to hit head and body part for point ). but in these days..most of people agreed brazillian "jiu jitsu" is best martial art for many ways.
Man M I have a question: why don't TKD guys attack the leg to make their rivals lose their balance, and then kick in the heads? Is it illegal or it can't give them points? Because in Karate tournaments, kick in the leg doesn't give point, it's the punch or kick in the body or head after that gives them points.
Hồng Vân Khang Trương match is game..refree probably want to know what kind of skill they r performing.... and that is the rule...no point on legs...I don; know why. In real fight ..I saw TKD people were kicking the other's legs and it was very effective... when u watch "full contact karate"..u can thinik kicking skills r same like TKD...Full contact Karate is a just fighting like UFC.. "Do" means in Taekwon Do or "Dang su DO".." the way"...not just fighting...it is kind of discipline or rules in life... I m not saying TKD is good or bad..I try to tell u that is how it is..
@midosi he's one of the best fighters.. and kyokushin karate is also known as probably the strongest form of karate. but obviously that depends on the practitioners. just look at k-1 competition, kyokushin has dominated many times. they train their body to take hits + those weren't low level its really difficult to perform those hits in a close combat. anyway theres always advantages and disadvantages in every martial arts. & i believe shotokan is really fast while kyokushin is hard&heavy.
Can I ask a question here. I am not an expert, I don't know anything about this. But shouldn't the Black belt be able to take on the Grey belt, and in this case, not get kicked in the head and knocked out???
Kyokushin used to back in the glory days when Kyokushin looked more like Karate and less like wild swinging kinder gardener's who learned how to punch and kick. back in those days it wasn't uncommon for a guy walking around the dojo picking teeth off the ground. that was when Oyama demanded excellence, it was really "go big, or go home"
@mrkiky You don't keep a low guard in karate. their hands are down because they are either tired or sloppy. I train in Kyokushin and my Senei always tells me to keep my hands up.
Are close range joint locks and throws incorported in these competitions, because if not it does'nt make much sense to not wear gloves and allow hand strikes to the face
What is the purpose of the move the fighter makes after knocking out the opponent. It looks like a gedan barai with open hand but a little higher? Thanks. Do you have to do all the time after KO? What is the name of the move?
@adman200000 Cool, ignorance gotta love it. Enlighten me, what martial arts do you practice, also have you ever had any inkling of respect? Also have you fought a karate practitioner, especially Kyokushin? Apologize and be on your way ^_^. OSU!
Kyokoshin fight means ,first you lose your legs because of low kick then you lose your stamina then you lose your head by high kick,,,,so it looks easy, please welcome to kyokoshin combat if you have got any resistance ability in your martial art style,,,,
Well I dont know, maybie youre wright,I dont know about Shoto becouse I never trained maybie he is tougher mentally becouse you need full concetration and precise hits, thats in Kyoku is needed also but in Kyoku is a little bit throwen accent to power and psyhical endurance and to train your body to take brutaly enormus number of hits,as you know by yourself..
Pummel the body since your going for the stamina of the opponent, don`t hit the head in kumite since you follow the rules of it and the main ideea of kyoukushin is discipline. But you can always look for the cage fights were they turn it into a showcase of animals instead of watching a fight between two respectfull oponents with beautifull moves. I would suggest you to watch the training for it and maybe you`ll feel a little bit surprised about it since it is one of the most fierced ones. Osu!
Go up to any Karate student and tell us that our style is unrealistic. Look up Mas Oyama, he created Kyukushin. He killed bulls with his bare hands in fights. Karate is the most underrated style of martial arts. Look at Lyoto Machida, look at how him and his Karate are fucking up everyone in the UFC. Finally Karate is making a comeback.
Yes, I know. I was just saying Karate in general.... 99% of the people who watch the UFC have no idea that there are over 30 different styles of Karate....
gud eye bt he was punching down wards it may look lyk punching in da face bt actually opponent's chest (upper chest ) woo.. this clip rocks.. gotta learn som of those moves.. lol
try again... it's called conditioning... we practice taking HARD bare knuckle shots to the chest ribs and stomach... Krav is predictable and robotic... seen it done many many times... the other thing most of YOU none Kyokushin practitioners is this... this is a tournament... this isn't what we do for street fighting... big big difference in order to understand you should try Kyokushin before you bad mouth... just sayin
@joshpgnut I find it to be very simple, and restrained. I like watching Taekwondo. I hate too much physical work (which is why I hated Karate) - I bet if I were to participate in Taekwondo, I'd feel the same and eventually give up after a bit.
i dont want any controversial stuff but lets say it , im a kyokushin practitioner from my past 2 years and im blue belt kyokushin has tought me that full contatc has benefits , create a hard body resistant to blows and kicks on the head but no punches to the face , we have certain rules such as taekwondo , judo and boxing wich make US practitioners vulnerable in some parts of in the fighting sistem we , the ones who have been kicked in the face , punched in the ribs , the boxers who had hard blows blows on their heads , the grappler who had been kod by punches , the taekwondo guy who got submitted . WE all know our capabilities in our martial art . even the normal mma guy is not invencible , MARTIAL ARTS ARE NOT TO BE CRITICIZE ITS ABOUT HOW HARD YOU WORKED ON YOUR TEACHINGS OF FIGHTING MENTALLY AND PHISICALLY ON FIGHTING
@rei9765 the rules don't allow for head punches, otherwise it would resemble more of a brawl and the fight would also be too short. and this video is a compilation of specifficaly kicks to the head.
well if you're gona get all technical, you dont strengthen your chin at all. i think its pretty obvious what i meant. plus another part of being koncked out isnt the power of the strike but the surprise. if ur too busy attacking and not defending its easier to get hurt
@joshpgnut Karateka most focus on gaining as much power as possible in a single blow while maintaining a strong stance. This could be why it always looks so static. Believe me it's not. Once you're in and fighting it gets really fast paced and you have to either out smart or out power your opponent. In competition you're not allowed to punch to the face, main reason is it's competition and you don't want to hurt the guy. Karate is one of the base arts in MMA also, sometimes instead of Muay Thai.
These kicks require tremendous technique and skill, to apply an effective kick from such a short distance. Kyokushin in my opinion is one of the strongest styles. EXCELLENT!
the Jodan Mawashi geris are no joke, that is like my fav kick that I love doing in Kyokushin karate!
dude finally Kyokushin highlight without music this is beautiful to say the least
Kyokushin is actually a combination of Shotokan and Goju Ryu, as creator Masutatsu Oyama trained in both styles. Kyokushin's "Northern Kata" comes from Shotokan, and its "Southern Kata" is from Goju Ryu.
Mas Oyama actually trained Taekkyeon first as a child and young teen.
Later on he developed Kyokushin with those Karate styles you mentioned
Karate Is Karate, it is an effective martial art when it is used by someone who knows what they are doing.
this is one of the martial arts GSP masters on. cool.
Urakyokushin does great clips! Arigato!
Thanks to haven't add music :)
Ryu Narujima. His kicks are like death sentences to the opponent.
THIS IS VERY ADDICTING TO WATCH
reminds me of cro cops high kicks.
great Kyokushin video.
2:47 made me smile xD the japanese guy's actin like he's super tired, and then, BAM! nice one

Holy shit, this is sweet! Nice video.
@marioxwarrior
Chuck Norris wasn't Kyokushin..he was Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate)
Karate is a martial art that possesses effective arm and leg techniques
That's why it is one of the best fighting styles on this planet

thanks for the slow motion. otherwise I'd have to pause a lot.

What is the name of the guy in the first K.O? His kick is amazing.
I love the ones when the guy thats getting beat up kos the other guy.
I love how they fall - like robots who just got unplugged.
great kick at 3:25 ,
like a double up kick.
Can I ask a question here. I am not an expert, I don't know anything about this. But shouldn't the Black belt be able to take on the Grey belt, and in this case, not get kicked in the head and knocked out???
shotokan karate and shito Ryu i like more becouse here all the kicks and fists make contact.
Kyokushin used to back in the glory days when
Kyokushin looked more like Karate and less like wild swinging kinder gardener's who learned how to punch and kick. back in those days it wasn't uncommon for a guy walking around the dojo picking teeth off the ground. that was when Oyama demanded excellence, it was really "go big, or go home"
2:48…Beautiful!!
I think 3:20 is the best kick but how they restrain themselfs from not punching there aponent in the face must be hard..
That's Ryu Narushima in the first fight, right? Anyone have any idea why there's a white patch sowed on top of his kanji?
Don't forget, not everyone that goes to world level competition is on the same page skill wise.
Some great kicks here. Powerful, unlike most taekwondo kicks.
agree!
@mrkiky You don't keep a low guard in karate. their hands are down because they are either tired or sloppy. I train in Kyokushin and my Senei always tells me to keep my hands up.
Thats just the way the fighting style evelved. Look at Andy hug, does he suck? He does more then brawl and block low kicks.
That is for the dont use gloves.
it does not mean that on the street they do not punch ur face. It is a pretty hard sport though.
Kyokushinkai is the best!

Narushima Ryu! Amazing!!!
Well we compete in full contact when we travel to the south of sweden. But it's still the technique the judges look at.
Why they aren't punching in their faces ? (why they don't use arms to it)
whats that kick called? at 3:30 and 4:37 where it looks like the kick changes direction midair?
Is that why Thailands top Luimpinee stadium champions lost to Oyama's boys in the 60's?
Go up to any Karate student and tell us that our style is unrealistic. Look up Mas Oyama, he created Kyukushin. He killed bulls with his bare hands in fights. @Modelkozak Karate doesn´t allow punches to the face, only kicks.
it really does not matter what colour your belt is. i have seen yellow belts taking out black belts
@stealthxsin That would be a reverse axe kick aka Brazilian kick
Thank you for your answer, and your Time :)

hey guys....can karate make profit?
@MrJhMMA Yes, a good shot to the solar plexus can get you a KO, but this highlight reel is for high kicks, not punches.
Yes!

I hate too much physical work (which is why I hated Karate) - I bet if I were to participate in Taekwondo, I'd feel the same and eventually give up after a bit.
well i think technique is the most important and you need more technique in shotokan.
its not as easy as you said, keep your hands up and the chest is opened for punches, you will get knock down faster than those without hands up.
Is he Glaube Feitosa at 3:13 ?
@xNecroKey exactly, due to the lack of gloves
the first k o looks like he hit an off switch
they're allowed to kick each other in the face but not punch???
